3 Nutrients Show Promise for Blood Sugar Support
A recent study found that delta-tocotrienol, vitamin D3, and resveratrol may help support blood sugar health and healthy inflammation levels.
Participants in the study included 232 adult diabetics over the age of 30. In the first part of the study, 120 of the participants were asked to take one of the following daily for 24 weeks: i) 500 mg of delta-tocotrienol, ii) 10,000 IU of vitamin D3, iii) 500 mg of resveratrol, or iv) a placebo. The researchers evaluated several parameters of blood sugar health and inflammation, at baseline and at the end of the study period.
All three nutrient groups (tocotrienol, vitamin D3 and resveratrol) experienced significant improvements in blood sugar and inflammation markers, with the delta-tocotrienol group seeing the most Improvement.
In the second part of the study, the researchers investigated whether the combination of the three nutrients would yield superior results. 112 participants received two capsules with a total of 250 mg of delta-tocotrienol, 10,000 IU of vitamin D2, and 250 mg of resveratrol, or a placebo to take daily for 24 weeks.
The researchers found that participants who received the combination supplement had about a 20% greater improvement overall compared to those who received only delta-tocotrienol, the best performer in the first study.
The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. It was published in Volume 5, Issue 1, 2021 of the Journal of Diabetes and Clinical Studies.
