CoQ10 May Help Reduce Fatigue
Coenzyme CoQ10 is an antioxidant that the body produces naturally. It helps protect the brain, heart, and muscles. A recent study has found that supplementation with CoQ10 may help relieve fatigue.
For their study, the researchers used data from 13 randomized clinical trials that included 1,126 participants. Some of the participants had illnesses known to produce fatigue and some were healthy. All the trials evaluated the effect of CoQ10 supplementation on fatigue scores. The duration of the studies ranged from 4 to 24 weeks.
All participants’ who were given CoQ10 during the trials saw significant reductions in fatigue scores regardless of health status. Participants who were given 300 to 500 mg of CoQ10 daily and had the longest supplementation periods saw the largest reductions.
The study was conducted by researchers from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. It was published on August 24, 2022 in the journal Pharmacology.
One dose of a coffee berry extract was found to help reduce fatigue in a previous study.
