Dear Friends,
Whether we realize it or not, stress is something most of us feel every day.
We’re constantly being pulled in different directions. Emails. Texts. Notifications. Meetings. Multitasking.
And even when we sit down to focus, it can feel like our attention is scattered.
Here’s the interesting part. For most people, the problem isn’t that they don’t have enough energy.
It’s that their energy is scattered and gets too easily depleted throughout the day.
And the natural response?
Reach for more caffeine. Another cup of coffee… an energy drink… something to push through.
But here’s the issue - stimulation is not the same as focus. And in many cases, more stimulation actually makes the problem worse.
Caffeine can be helpful — in moderation. I love a cup of tea each morning to start the day. But when you rely on caffeine throughout the day, a few things tend to happen:
- You get short bursts of energy… followed by dips.
- You may feel more wired — but not necessarily more focused.
- And for many people, it can increase feelings of stress or anxiety.
So instead of improving productivity, it can actually make it harder to stay calm and focused.
That’s because true focus requires more than just energy. It requires control of your mental state.
Calming Energy Helps Sustain You
This is where a concept we call calming energy comes in.
Calming energy is exactly what it sounds like: it’s energy that is steady, focused, controlled and calm. Not jittery. Not scattered. Not overstimulated.
Think of it as the difference between a spotlight and a flickering light bulb. Both produce energy — but only one helps you clearly see what’s in front of you.
To understand why this matters, we need to talk briefly about stress. When your body is under stress, it activates what’s called the stress response system.
This involves hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. In short bursts, this can be helpful.
But when it’s almost always present — which is common today — it can affect: focus, memory, mental clarity, and overall cognitive performance.
In other words, when your brain is in a stressed state, it’s much harder to focus — no matter how much caffeine you take.
That’s why managing stress is not just about relaxation, it’s also about supporting mental performance.
So instead of asking: “How can I get more energy?," a better question is: “How can I support focused, calm, sustained energy throughout the day?”
And that’s where certain nutrients can play a helpful role. Let’s look at three ingredients we like to use together to support this concept.
Feel More Alert in as Little as 1 Hour
The first is named enXtra, a plant-based ingredient derived from Thai ginger.
It’s been studied for its ability to support alertness, focus and mental performance.
What makes it unique is that it works with or without caffeine, and many people report feeling a difference in as little as 30 minutes.
In published research studies, enXtra has been shown to help maintain alertness and feel less fatigue for several hours — without the spike and crash associated with stimulants alone.
So instead of pushing your system harder - it helps support steady mental energy.
Interestingly, some research showed enXtra users improved reaction time — and performed tasks with greater accuracy and fewer errors.
I also like that they found enXtra doesn’t affect sleep even at twice the normal 300mg dose.
The main way enXtra is believed to work is by supporting dopamine activity in the brain.
Dopamine is one of the body’s “feel-good” hormones, and helps us stay alert, motivated and productive.
Natural GABA – Feel Calm, Not Drowsy
The second ingredient is PharmaGABA.
In case you don’t know, GABA is a naturally occurring neurotransmitter in the brain that helps promote a sense of calm.
PharmaGABA has been studied for its ability to support relaxation, help support the body’s stress response, and promote a calm mental state, without making you drowsy.
And this is important. Because calmness and focus are not opposites. They actually work together.
When your mind is calmer, it becomes easier to concentrate and stay on task.
The calming effects of PharmaGABA typically can be felt within 30 minutes to 60 minutes and may last for several hours – helping you handle stress, concentrate, and maintain energy levels better.
Salidroside Supports Performance Under Stress
The last ingredient is salidroside, a key compound found in the Rhodiola plant. Rhodiola is what’s known as an adaptogen.
Adaptogens help your body adapt to physical and mental stress.
Research suggests salidroside may help:
- Support cognitive performance under stress.
- Reduce mental fatigue.
- Promote resilience during demanding situations.
So instead of being overwhelmed by stress… your body is better able to handle it and stay functional.
Again, this supports our calming energy goals, helping us control our mental state before it controls us.
In a nutshell, each of these 3 ingredients does something different. enXtra supports alertness, PharmaGABA supports calmness, Salidroside supports stress resilience.
But together, they help create something more powerful: Balanced, calming energy.
And that’s really the goal — not more energy, but better controlled energy. Not too stimulated. Not too relaxed. But right where you want to be to stay productive.
So How’s This Useful in the Real World?
Think about your typical day. In the morning you’re trying to get going. By midday you’re juggling multiple tasks, and the afternoon often comes with energy dips and mental fatigue.
This is where many people rely on repeated doses of caffeine.
But that often leads to short energy spikes and sometimes jitters, a crash when the stimulant effect wears off, and increased stress or fatigue.
Remember, your body has to expend energy just to recover from the stimulating effects of caffeine.
A calming energy approach is different. It’s about maintaining consistent focus, steady energy and a calm mental state throughout the day.
This is exactly the approach we took with our TrueMind formula. It combines: enXtra, PharmaGABA and the Landkind salidroside – and active forms of key B vitamins to support cellular energy production.
I find this helps support focus, mental clarity, and calm energy — without relying on heavy stimulants.
Usually, I take TrueMind between 10am and 11am, and find it helps me stay productive and energized for the rest of the business day. It’s one of my favorite supplements.
The ability to stay calm, focused, and mentally energized may be one of the most valuable skills you can develop in today’s world.
And supporting that with the right approach — including the right nutrients — can make a real difference.
