Euromed: Supplier of the Clinically Researched Milk Thistle
Milk thistle is one of the oldest and most extensively studied plants for liver health.
Most of this research has been done using milk thistle extracts from a company based outside of Barcelona, Spain named Euromed.
Over the last 40 years, Euromed milk thistle has been the subject of approximately 50 research studies. This research has been conducted on a wide range of people with virtually no unwanted side effects reported (it may have a mild laxative effect in some individuals).
Because of their long record of quality and efficacy, we chose to feature Euromed milk thistle in our TrueMilkThistle™ product.
Euromed milk thistle is standardized to contain a minimum 80% silymarin – a mixture of isomers that provide the beneficial health properties from milk thistle.
The raw material to make this ingredient is sourced in Spain and Central Europe using strict selection guidelines. Extraction and final testing is done in Euromed’s Spanish facility in Mollet del Valles (outside of Barcelona).
This facility obtained NSF International certification for utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Euromed was also awarded "Green" 14001 Certification from ISO, the International Standardization Organization.
This award demonstrates Euromed's dedication to establishing and maintaining sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
SelenoExcell®: Replicating How Selenium is Found in Food
Selenium is a crucial nutrient for the body. One of its most important functions is helping to produce antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase.
As a part of our natural enzyme system, selenium works to stop free radical production at the cellular level. Many other antioxidants deal with free radicals once they are active – primary antioxidants like selenium prevent free radicals from being produced at the outset.
Most supplements are made with one form of selenium such as selenomethionine. However, selenium in food is actually a cluster of different selenium molecules – which is what your body needs.
And providing multiple forms of selenium is exactly what the yeast derived SelenoExcell® uniquely provides. For example, SelenoExcell® naturally includes selenomethionine, selenocysteine and methylselenocysteine and other forms of selenium.
SelenoExcell® originates from a non-pathogenic, non-GMO Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast strain. It creates a product that is the closest to food forms of selenium, like what is found in Brazil nuts, eggs, peas, poultry, and meats.
The yeast fermentation process replicates the natural course in which plants absorb and transform minerals from the soil into a more bioavailable form that improves the nutrition and health properties of selenium.
This particular yeast used to make SelenoExcell® is able to accumulate and incorporate selenium into the protein structure. This enhances its antioxidant properties and ability to fight oxidative stress in the body.
What’s more, the selenium in SelenoExcell® is what researchers call organic, meaning it is attached to several amino acids. This factor may make it more bioavailable than other forms found in supplements.
