Dear Friends,

Other nutritional compounds like collagen and keratin get more attention – and we love them too – but today we’ll review why taking a supplement with ceramides is just as important for keeping skin and hair looking their best.

The Ceramosides® brand is our favorite form of ceramides for supplements because just 30mg daily has been shown to improve skin and hair in 5 published placebo-controlled studies.

Ceramosides® is a patented source of plant ceramides that works from the inside out to help keep your skin hydrated, smooth, and resilient. It also plays a big role in creating the right environment on the scalp for stronger, fuller-looking hair.

Three of the studies with Ceramosides® focused on skin benefits and 2 investigated how Ceramosides® can also help cut down on normal hair loss and support hair growth in women.

In addition, last month the makers of Ceramosides® also shared the results of a consumer study involving 95 men who were interested in the hair health benefits of Ceramosides®.

We’ll cover the highlights and key findings from all this research so you can get a sense of how this supplement ingredient may help you.

What are Ceramides?

Ceramides are a type of lipid, or fat, that make up over 50% of your skin’s outer layer.

If you can picture a brick wall, ceramides would be the mortar or concrete between the bricks, which in this example are the skin cells.

Ceramides help form a strong, water-retaining barrier that protects against moisture loss, environmental irritants, and age-related skin damage.

Although the main function of ceramides is in the external part of the skin, ceramides also help protect collagen and elastin fibers from degrading.

As you may know, collagen and elastin are in the lower layers of the skin, mostly the dermis (which is the middle layer) so ceramides play several key roles in all 3 skin layers.

When we’re young and ceramide levels are high, your skin barrier stays strong, supple, and well-hydrated. But as we age our ceramide levels naturally decline.

The result? Skin gets drier, has a rougher texture and appears less smooth, and fine lines and wrinkles appear.

This also affects your scalp, making it harder for hair follicles to thrive and produce healthy hair.

This is where Ceramosides® steps in. It’s a plant-based, gluten-free form of ceramides derived from wheat, and it helps replenish the body’s natural supply from within.

Ceramide creams can be helpful but can only do so much.

When Ceramosides® is taken internally as a supplement, the nutritional components can circulate throughout your body and participate in the formation of new ceramides — helping your skin and scalp reinforce that protective moisture barrier where it matters most.

How Long till Results Start?

In human studies with Ceramosides®, skin hydration of many participants improved in as little as 15 days and continued to improve over the 2-month study period.

In addition, on average, study participants experienced improvements in skin elasticity up to 26% after 60 days, with reductions in wrinkles of up to 18%.

And compared to those taking a placebo, skin was smoother in those taking Ceramosides® too.

However, as mentioned, the skin benefits are only part of the story.  It turns out Ceramosides® can help hair health and appearance too.

Like the skin’s outer layer, hair cuticles rely on ceramides to create a protective barrier against external damage.

In two studies with 160 women struggling with hair shedding, taking Ceramosides® for 12 weeks made a significant difference.

Normal hair loss was reduced after both 2 and 3 months, and hair growth accelerated in this timeframe.

Also noteworthy, in women taking Ceramosides® there was a significant improvement in the proportion of hair in the anagen phase, which is considered the growth phase for hair, and less hair in the telogen phase, also called the resting or dormant phase.

This is believed to be why hair loss declined and hair growth accelerated.

Fresh Data on Men and Hair Health

In the new consumer study, 95 men over the age 35 took Ceramosides® for three months.

At the end, 80% of the men believed that their hair was healthier, with many reporting less hair loss and greater hair density.

Interestingly, 72% of the men said their beards grew faster too.

Something else that indicates a healthier scalp is 70% of the men indicated they had less dandruff, and 70% noticed their scalp was less prone to reactions such as itching, redness or irritation.

This could reflect better hydrated skin as has been seen in supplementation with Ceramosides®.

Even though this wasn’t a placebo-controlled study, the data from this report is consistent with other studies using a 30mg daily serving of Ceramosides®.

What Makes Ceramosides® Unique?

Ceramosides® works well because it isn’t just any ceramide.

It’s a purified concentrated complex of phytoceramides plus molecules naturally occurring in wheat (abbreviated as DGDG) that effectively create a liposomal structure to boost activity and efficiency of the ceramides by improving their absorption.

Ceramides alone are unlikely to have the same benefits as this combination or require a significantly higher daily serving size.

Ceramosides® is vegan, non-GMO, free of preservatives, and again — even though it comes from wheat — it’s guaranteed by the maker to be gluten-free thanks to a specific purification process that results in total elimination of wheat and gluten residues.

If you pay attention to gluten intake, you may know that the worldwide standard for being gluten-free is containing less than 20ppm of gluten – the US FDA, the EU and authorities worldwide use this standard.

You can take comfort knowing the makers of Ceramosides® hold themselves to a much stricter standard.  Instead of 20ppm, they will not approve a batch unless it’s less than 2.5ppm, with testing done both internally and independently externally.

At NatureCity, we combine Ceramosides® with other top-notch hair and skin ingredients in our powerful TrueNuGrow+ supplement.

Ceramosides® perfectly complements other scientifically studied ingredients like keratin, collagen, OptiMSM®, astaxanthin, plant biotin and numerous others.

If you’re truly interested in keeping your hair and skin looking its best, then look no further than TrueNuGrow+, it’s like many supplements combined in one bottle.

Yours for Good Health,
