Dear Friends,
You might remember a recent letter where we explored how a sulfur-containing ingredient called OptiMSM supports healthy hair, glowing skin, and joint health and comfort — all great reasons to make it part of your daily routine.
Now there’s another reason to love OptiMSM — especially if you’re someone who wants to stay active, recover faster from exercise, or just feel better after a long day of physical activity.
I certainly know that as I’ve gotten older, recovering from a workout or even just an active day on my feet isn’t quite as easy as it used to be.
Whether you’re running, gardening, weight training, or just chasing the kids or grandkids around the yard — your muscles and joints take a hit.
So finding natural ways to support faster recovery and reduce post-exercise soreness can make a big difference in how you feel — and how consistent you stay with movement.
Personally, I try to do something active every day – so when this new study hit my inbox, I was very intrigued with the findings, and wanted to share them with you.
If you missed the last OptiMSM letter, here’s a quick recap.
What is MSM?
MSM stands for methylsulfonylmethane — that’s a mouthful, but all you really need to know is it’s a natural sulfur-containing compound that plays a key role in supporting collagen, keratin, and connective tissue throughout the body.
It’s also a powerful antioxidant – helping the body reduce oxidative stress.
Sulfur may not sound glamourous – but it’s essential to life, and MSM can be found in plants, animals, and us humans too.
OptiMSM is a premium, purified form of MSM — and it’s what we use in our TrueNuGrow+ hair and skin formula, which we recently introduced.
OptiMSM is produced using a multi-stage distillation process that ensures 99.9% purity — making it one of the cleanest, most effective MSM forms available.
And now, there’s fresh science showing how MSM may help support your body’s recovery after exercise.
New Study for Muscle Recovery
In the newly published study, researchers gave half-marathon runners either OptiMSM or a placebo to take for the 30 days leading up to their race.
For those in the OpitiMSM group, they took 500mg daily for the first 27 days, and then 1,000mg the last 3 days – with the race being on the 30th day.
That timing is key. The researchers weren’t just looking at short-term effects — they wanted to see if MSM could help the body prepare for the stress for exercise, not just respond to it afterward.
You may be thinking, well I’m not a marathon runner, why is this relevant.
The point of the research was to pick an extreme activity that taxes the body in a significant way, which would allow the scientists to assess how OptiMSM may or may not help.
And since a half-marathon puts real strain on the muscles and immune system, it was a perfect way to test MSM’s potential.
The researchers found that MSM supplementation helped optimize the runners’ post-exercise immune and inflammation responses — which are both key factors in how fast your body recovers.
To assess this, the researchers measured hundreds of blood biomarkers called mRNAs and found 29 different markers tied to inflammation, antioxidant defense, and tissue regeneration where there was a significant, measurable improvement in those taking MSM versus a placebo.
What Does This Mean?
In plain English, this means that MSM helped the body bounce back better by reducing oxidative stress and encouraging a healthier recovery response at the cellular level.
The bottom line is taking OptiMSM may help support muscle recovery from exercise, speed up restoration of damaged muscle tissue, and reduce oxidative stress after exercise.
This is exciting news — not just for competitive runners, but for all of us.
You don’t have to run 13 miles to benefit from better recovery.
Whether you’re doing yoga, hiking, walking, or working out at home — MSM can help reduce post-activity soreness and stiffness, to help you feel ready to go the next day.
Maybe you’re not training for a race — maybe your ‘marathon’ is a weekend of home improvement projects or playing a couple rounds of pickleball.
Either way, muscle soreness is muscle soreness. Supporting a healthy inflammation response and reducing recovery time is something that can benefit all of us.
Support at Lower Dosage
Also noteworthy from this study, the participants only took 500 to 1,000mg of OptiMSM daily and experienced benefits.
Previous research had studied exercise health support at a much higher dose of 3,000mg per day.
This new data with the lower dose jibes perfectly with the amount of OptiMSM in TrueNuGrow+ — where for hair and skin health, you receive 1,000mg daily in 2 servings of 500mg each.
So if you’re already taking TrueNuGrow+ for your hair, skin, and joint health — you’re already getting this extra support!
You’re not just promoting beauty from within… you’re also giving your muscles and joints the support they need to recover and stay strong.
Whether it's fewer aches, healthier looking hair, or quicker recovery after a workout — OptiMSM is an ingredient that continues to impress.
And it’s not the only ingredient in TrueNuGrow+ that offers benefits beyond hair and skin.
Many users are finding that with the 13 ingredients in the TrueNuGrow+ formula, they can eliminate other supplements that they were taking.
Yours for Good Health,
